Himatangi is a small settlement in the Manawatū District of the Manawatū-Whanganui Region. It is located at the junction of State Highway 1 and Rangiotu Road leading to State Highway 56, 25 kilometres west of Palmerston North, and seven kilometres east of the coastal settlement of Himatangi Beach.
This is a simple park and grab when you are travelling northbound on State Highway 1. It is not recommended to attempt this when you are travelling southbound. But if you do stop on the opposite side, be extra careful and patient when crossing State Highway 1, as it is on a fast traffic zone with most vehicles travelling at between 70 and 100 km/hour.
