Geocache Description:

Time at Park: 4:00 PM - 4:15 PM

Time on Trail: 4:15PM - 6:30PM

Description:
I will be in town on this day and I want to go to a geocaching event and ride my mountain bike on the Church Rocks Trail. So here we go.

I’ll be at the posted coordinates from 4:00 PM to 4:15ish PM to meet up with anyone who’d like to join. We can chat, swap stories, and unload bikes while we prepare for this high stakes adventure. The bike ride portion is optional so if mountain biking isn't your thing feel free to join us at the park for a few miniutes before the ride. If you can't be there at the start, no problem just come find us on the trail.

I’m also bringing along a 8" giant LEGO captain to give away.  He’s huge, awesome, and frankly, a little intimidating. He told me he is tired of living in my cubicle so I am setting him free to fulful his destiny.

Here’s the deal:

  • If it’s just me, I get to keep Captain Red Beard.
  • If it’s just you, congratulations—you win by default.
  • If more than one person shows up, we’ll need to settle it like proper pirates: with a challenge. Something like who can pull a wet piece of paper out of a nano, sign it, and reroll it the fastest. If you win, you’ll be declared the captain until someone else challenges your supremacy.

Once that’s sorted, and assuming the weather and trail conditions cooperate, those who are interested can ride out to the Church Rocks trail.

The plan is to start from the park, navigating a mix of multi-use paths and suburban streets until we reach the creepy culvert under the freeway that leads to the trailhead. The ride should take about 1.5 hours, wrapping up by sunset. Not into biking? No problem—the trail is also open to hikers and trail runners. Join however you’d like.

Trail Information:

  • Difficulty: Intermediate, but less skilled riders can manage by walking a few tricky spots.
  • Length: 4 miles
  • Elevation Gain: 213 ft
  • A mix of slickrock and great views of the valley, with unique rock formations. It’s best ridden clockwise for a nice downhill section on the northeast end.

What to Bring:

  • Water
  • Snacks or sustenance
  • A helmet
  • A mountain bike
  • Anything else you’ll need to make it through a casual ride or run
