Geocache Description:

Before you go to retrieve it, I suggest you don't try to go directly to it from the trail -- there is a steep slope down. Go to the nearby power tower where you can find a much easier slope down to the fence and then traverse along the fence to the tree where it is hidden.

The Jasmer Challenge: A difficult challenge where one must find a cache placed in each month since May 2000, the birth of geocaching. This hide is just down the trail from the location of the Original Jasmer Challenge (GC1GBC1) so you can sign it too while nearby if you haven't already (but it's a Challenge so you need to qualify even if you sign before qualifying)

The tough part of a Jasmer:  It depends on where you live, your ability to travel, your time and financial budget, and your level of dedication. The problem for most is August 2000 and May 2000. August is especially an issue, with only four active remaining caches:

Double Jasmer: otherwise known as two cycles .... Two finds each month since the inauguration.
Triple Jasmer: three finds each month since the inauguration.
Quadruple ... four finds each month since the inauguration

Current geocaching.com rules allow a Jasmer Challenge cache, and there are many out there including the nearrby original. That is the cutoff, so no double or triple or quad challenges are allowed. There are a few grandfathered double Challenges out there, but no legacy triple nor quad challenges.

The Gotcha: You finally conquer the tough finds, completing the challenge: only to check and realize that your finds do not include a find for the current month! The worst day to "complete" the challenge is on the first day of the month. For those with double, triple or quadruple Jasmer's youi need  2, 3 or 4 finds each month to restore your Jasmer 2x, 3x, or 4x status.

Since a quadruple Jasmer challenge is not allowed these days, this will be what those around Taft, CA call an un-chanllenge. You declare that you qualify in your find note or in a later "Write note" when you do finally meet the un-challenge.

Since I own this cache and can't log a find on it, here are my qualifying stats for the Unchallenge as of December 2024

List of Quad Jasmer Qualifying cachers:. Show your stats in your log and I'll try to update the list here from time to time.
