Let’s celebrate the Village Hall Week outside Steppingley Village Hall. In 1839 the 7th Duke of Bedford purchased almost all of the parish that he didn’t already own and began a programme of improvements. This quaint village hall was built in 1851 in the heart of Steppingley. With its high ceilings and timber floors, the hall has many charming features including wooden lead diamond windows, so typical with the buildings of this time in the area.
The coordinates bring you to the old bus shelter next to the hall, which now holds the community book swap, village noticeboard, historical information and a local footpath map. You are encouraged to bring along both books and trackables for exchanging.
There is celebration artwork available on the Village Hall series website for attending this, or any event, as well as finding a cache. A cache will be going live during the event with the opportunity for all attendees to claim a First To Find.
