Tasmanian Government Railways opened the Derwent Valley Line on the 1st of September 188H.

The distance via the railway between Bridgewater and New Norfolk is E8 kilometres.

The Derwent Valley Line is 3' B" narrow gauge

The last documented rail journey to Florentine was in April 19D3

Florentine Junction, also known as Pillinger’s CreekRisby’s JunctionFlorentine Rail Yard and Florentine Depot opened in 19F6

In 200J the line was reopened to Westerway but then closed again in 2005.
