The P29 is a decommissioned patrol boat that has become a popular dive site off the coast of Malta. It was scuttled in 2007 to create an artificial reef. Today, it is home to a variety of marine life and an exciting destination for adventurous divers.
The P29 was originally a Kondor-I-Class minesweeper built in East Germany during the Cold War. After serving in the Armed Forces of Malta as a patrol boat, it was decommissioned and sunk near Ċirkewwa. The wreck is approximately 52 meters long and offers many fascinating areas to explore. It is also home to a variety of marine creatures, including groupers, moray eels, and schools of barracudas.
The cache is located clos to the bridge (steering house) of the wreck and presents an exciting challenge for certified divers. The wreck lies at a depth of 33 meters on the sandy seabed, with its highest structure at about 20 meters. This cache is only accessible to divers with an Advanced Open Water Certificate (or equivalent).
Cache Details:
- The replacement is a rigid plastic tube.Geocachers bring a waterproof pen to log on the tube.
- Find at the frontside of the top cabin where it is hidden next to the electrical cables. The white fixation-rope will guide you.
