On December 7, 2024, we hosted the Mesa Ammocan Event. The logbook was a white ammocan, which is now the container for this geocache.
The plan was to publish this one within 2 weeks of the event. Unfortunately, our attempts to place it in a northeast valley park were met with bureacratic delays followed by ultimate refusal to allow it's placement. So another site has been been chosen over two months later.
This geocache is accessible from Northbound Highway 87, shortly before the turnoff to Tonto Basin and Lake Roosevelt. Park at the listed coordinates, then walk southeast to a slight rise and down. You are looking for a Utah Juniper tree with the suspicious rock pile at it's base. Coordinates do bounce due to the small hillside to the north. It is NOT a hard climb up, and is only a few feet higher than the adjacent highway.
