Access is best along the cliff top from Holmpton Number 1. The path to nowhere, where there is usually room to park of the grass verge. You may see cars parked by beach fishermen on the South side of the dike near the GZ but this is definitely not recommended. It is not an official car park, and indeed we are not sure that cars are parked with the land-owner's permission. The route to where they park is also along the top of the cliff and the side of the field, which makes getting stuck very possible for anything other than a 4x4.
The dike here is called "Old Hive Dike" and the place is known locally as Old Hive, but no-one seems to know when the name orginated. It forms the Southern border of Holmpton Parish at this point It is one of the most remote parts of the coast which is presumably why it is often used by the Search and Rescue Helicopter for night-time practice/exercies.
The host object has recently appeared and we presume it is associated with the long promised long distance coastal footpath.
