[EST] Monoliit (vanakreeka keeles monólithos 'ühest kivist') on ühest kiviplokist valmistatud skulptuur või arhitektuurne objekt (sammas, sillus vms). See mõiste käib mittelooduslike monoliitide kohta.
Arthur C. Clarke'i raamatutest ja S. Kubricku filmist tuntud monoliidid on mustad risttahukakujulised seadeldised, valmistatud maaväliste liikide poolt. Filmis 2001: Kosmoseodüsseia (pilt 1) andis üks selline monoliit intellektuaalse põlvemüksu varasele hominiidile, kes sellepeale leiutas esimese relva ja tööriistad ning asus mõistusega inimese evolutsioonilisele kiirteele. Hiljem kaevati (filmis) üks selline monoliit välja Kuu pinna alt. Filmis 2010: The Year We Make Contact hakkavad monoliidid massiliselt paljunema ja katavad lõpuks terve Jupiteri pinna (edasi kirjeldamine oleks spoiler).
Seekord on kriipsujuku jõudnud müstilisele väljakule, mis on kaetud sadade ulmefilmist tuntud monoliitidega (pilt 2). Monoliidid on asetunud sirgetesse korrapärastesse ridadesse ja iga monoliit reas on tähistatud tähega A, B, C... jne. Kriipsujuku ise asub 1. rea A samba juures.
Kriipsujuku hakkas mööda monoliitide rida astuma ning leidis 1. ja 2. rea G ja H monoliitide vahelt valge sarkofaagi ning sellesse asetatud juhised.
Sarkofaagis olevas juhises on kirjas: "Mine mööda 1. ja 2. rea vahelist käiku edasi ja pööra kohe peale M sammast (monoliiti) paremale. Mine monoliitide 10. rea juurde, keera jälle paremale ja astu selles suunas 5 monoliidi võrra. Sealt pööra vasakule ja liigu 74 monoliidi võrra edasi. Siis keera jälle paremale kuni jõuad peaaegu väljaku servani. Seal on Monoliit, mille sees on aare."

A monolith (from the ancient Greek monólithos 'one stone') is a sculpture or architectural object (column, lintel, etc.) made from a single block of stone. This term applies to non-natural monoliths.
Monoliths, known from Arthur C. Clarke's books and S. Kubrick's film, are black cuboid-shaped devices made by extraterrestrial species. In the film 2001: A Space Odyssey (image 1), one such monolith gave an intellectual knee-jerk reaction to an early hominid, who then invented the first weapons and tools and set off on the evolutionary highway of intelligent humans. Later (in the film), one such monolith was excavated from under the surface of the Moon. In the film 2010: The Year We Make Contact, the monoliths begin to multiply en masse and eventually cover the entire surface of Jupiter (further description would be a spoiler).
This time, the stick figure has arrived at a mystical square covered with hundreds of monoliths known from science fiction films (picture 2). The monoliths are arranged in straight, regular rows, and each monolith in the row is marked with the letter A, B, C... etc. The stick figure himself is located at column A in row 1.
The stick figure found the sarcophagus between monoliths G and H in rows 1 and 2 and directions to find a treasure/cache.
The directions s on the sarcophagus read: "Go along the passage between rows 1 and 2 and turn right immediately after the M pillar (monolith). Go to the 10th row of monoliths, turn right again and walk 5 monoliths in that direction. From there, turn left and move forward 74 monoliths. Then turn right again until you reach almost the edge of the square. There is a Monolith with a treasure inside."
