Tämä metsä kaipasi uutta kätköä. Täällä on hyvät retkeilypolut ja voi vaikka marjastaa tai sienestää samalla, kun hakee kätkön. Auton voi jättää joko Häppiläntielle tai Kyyrläntielle.
"Hirvensalo muuttuu. Saaren väestönkasvu tuntuu toisinaan rajulta, mutta se on vain viimeisin vaihe vuosisatoja sitten alkaneessa muutosten ketjussa.
Kallioiden välisten korpien ja rantalehtojen raivaaminen pelloiksi ja laitumiksi on alkanut viimeistään keskiajalla ja jatkunut näihin päiviin asti. Viime vuosikymmeninä peltoaukiot ja metsänreunat ovat alkaneet täyttyä yhä uusilla asuinalueilla.
Ennen tätä kaikkea Hirvensalo oli kuitenkin nimensä mukaisesti salo, syrjäinen vanhan metsän peittämä saari, jota asuttivat lähinnä vain hirvet ja muut eläimet.
Suurin raivaamiselta säästynyt alue on jäänyt Hirvensalon ytimeen, missä Friskalan rantaniityn nurkalta alkava metsäinen kallioselänne halkaisee saaren kahtia melkein Mustalahdelle saakka. Selänteen Kyyrläntien länsipuolelle jäävää osaa kutsutaan Ruotsalanmetsäksi. Se on kaikista Hirvensalon jäljellä olevista metsistä suurin, kuin viimeinen pala saarta ammoin peittänyttä alkumetsää."

This forest needed a new cache. There are good hiking trails and you can for example pick berries or mushrooms while looking for a cache. You can leave the car either on Häppiläntie or Kyyrläntie.
"Hirvensalo is changing. The island's population growth sometimes seems drastic, but it is only the latest stage in a chain of changes that began centuries ago.
The clearing of the ravines and coastal groves to fields and pastures started at the latest in the Middle Ages and has continued until these days. In recent decades, fields and forest edges have started to be filled with more and more new residential areas.
Before all this, however, Moose Island (Hirvensalo) was, as its name suggests, a remote island covered with old forest, inhabited mostly only by deer and other animals.
The largest area spared from clearing has remained in the core of Hirvensalo, where the rocky ridge starting from the corner of the Friskala beach meadow cuts the island in half almost all the way to Mustalahti. The west side of Kyyrläntie is called Ruotsala-forest. It is the largest of all of the remaining forests of Hirvensalo, like the last piece of primeval forest that covered the island."
