Geocache Description:

To support Victoria's first ever Block Party, event mascot Muggle the Puggle has teamed up with geocachers across Victoria to place a range of caches for you all to find & enjoy. Whether you visit before, during, or after The Sunbury Event, we hope you enjoy your time in Sunbury & the surrounding areas of Hume.

A simple Wherigo

Wherigo geocaches were first made available in early 2008. They use a Wherigo cartridge, which enables cache owners to design interactive cache experiences that may or may not require you to be in a specific location/locations. Much like puzzle caches, they can range from the simple and straight forward, to the downright challenging. This cache is the former.

You can find the link to the Whereigo cartridge here. This cartridge is open source, and was developed by local Victorian Geocacher Day1976. It works on a rather simple premise. Enter two codes into the cartridge and it will tell you the bearing (in degrees) from your current location to the cache. Whilst this doesnt sound overly helpful at first (and it isnt with a single reading), you can take multiple readings from different locations and use that information to deduce the location of the cache. The Intersection of Lines tool at geocachingtoolbox.com is one such way of turning the information from the cartridge into GZ coordinates.

When you first open the cartridge, you will be presented with 2 options:

Get a code - Use this option if you want to hide a geocache using this open source cartridge. Simply enter your coordinates in using the Decimal Degrees format and the cartridge will give you the two codes required for that location.

Find a Geocache - Thats what you want to do here. Select this option, enter the 2 codes below and the cartridge will give you the bearing to the cache from your current location. Note this down.

Some tips:

1 - Bearings are more accurate the closer you are to a given location. This cartridge can be run from anywhere in the world, but the closer you are to GZ the more accurate the result will be.

2 - Try to take your reads from very different locations in order to get different bearings. The close you are to the cache the easier this is to do.

3 - Unlike unknown caches (puzzles), final coordinates for a Whereigo can literally be anywhere. But for this cache, the final coordinates are indeed somewhere within a 3.2km radius of the posted coordinates.

First Code: jb3y4

Second Code: e22n5
