Geocache Description:

It's
DECEMBER 29!

And what a day!  Every* year, it is:

  • the 363rd day of the year - *leap years excepted
  • the third last day of the year
  • the fifth Day of Christmas - break out those 🎵go-old rings🎵
  • day four of the Boxing Day test - lets hope the English have already lost

On this day in history:

  • in 1170 Thomas Becket was murdered in Canterbury Cathedral by followers of King Henry II.  Today is his feast day
  • In 1852 Emma Snodgrass was arrested in Boston, not for the first time, for wearing pants
  • in 1993 Australian cricketer Travis Head was born

So, let's celebrate this auspicious day at Acacia Park in Telopea.  We can talk geocaching, cricket or any number of other topics that interest us.
Yes, alright, this is primarily just an excuse for us to get together for fun and fellowship. laugh

And, for those so inclined, it means you can attend an event in the greater Sydney area every day from Christmas Day to 2 January.

Hope to see you there.

THE SMALL PRINT:

There are toilets, a child's playground, and a lookout with an expansive view of the suburbs of southern Sydney.  There are also shelters - I'll try to grab one but it's not guaranteed.

Dogs are allowed if they are on-leash and stay more than 10 metres from the playground.  Even so, it might be best to leave them at home, sleeping off their December 28 excesses.

The 545 bus from Parramatta to Macquarie Centre stops here, and Telopea Light Rail station is just over 500 metres away by foot.  There is plenty of car parking.
