Geocache Description:

No more pencils no more books, No more teacher's dirty looks yeah!
Out for summer, Out till fall, We might not come back at all
School's out forever, School's out for summer, School's out with fever, School's out completely!

"Alice Cooper 1972"

The School opened in 1966 with year 8 students only. Mr. Charlie Williams was the principal when the school first opened. The school was called Port Pirie Technical High School when opened but later changing the name to Risdon Park High School in 1973. It was originally called a "Technical High" as it was supposed to cater more for students doing practical, rather than academic courses.

The 4 Houses for sports competitions were devised by Mrs. Barbara Carver who was an original staff member but in later years she became the first female Deputy Principal. The houses were as follows.

Thompson (YELLOW) named after Captain Thomas, master mariner and harbour master, Port Pirie.
Harris (GREEN) named after Charles Hope Harris who planned the town.
Germein (RED) named after Samual Germein who discovered the Port Pirie River
Warren (BLUE) Named after Port Pirie's first Mayor.

Unfortunetaly all good things have to came to an end and in January 1995 it amalgamated with the Port Pirie High School to form the John Pirie Secondary School. The School was demolished and is now a housing estate and the original plaque seems to be the only remaining relic of the school.
