The Kouga Municipality and “Dorp van Drome” have announced the completion of a boardwalk.
The first phase of this project, namely a 1.5km promenade from Jeffreys Bay Caravan Park to Sandkasteel in Diaz Road, is now complete…. It will eventually stretch from the National Sea Rescue Institute to the Jeffreys Bay Caravan Park and will be known as the Jeffreys Bay Dream Mile.
This was made possible by the dedicated work of the non-profit organisation, Dorp van Drome together with the Municipality and Lottoland Help ‘n Dorp, a KykNET programme and popular initiative that assists towns with projects initiated by residents or organisations to support and improve communities.
One of the exceptional features of this promenade is its accessibility for the disabled with a wheelchair-friendly entrance at Sandkasteel in Diaz Road.
Other benefits include safe access to the beach, accessibility for walkers and joggers, a safer environment for anglers and also the protection of the dunes.

Die eerste fase van dié projek, nl ń 1.5km promenade vanaf Jeffreysbaai karavaanpark tot by Sandkasteel in Diazweg, is nou voltooi…. Dit sal uiteindelik vanaf die Nasionale Seereddingsinstituut tot by die Jeffreysbaai-karavaanpark strek en sal bekend staan as die Jeffreysbaai Droommyl.
Dít is moontlik gemaak deur die toegewyde werk van die nie-winsgewende organisasie, Dorp van Drome tesame met die Munisipaliteit en Lottoland Help ‘n Dorp, n KykNET-program en gewilde inisiatief wat dorpe help met projekte wat deur inwoners of organisasies geïnisieer word om gemeenskappe te ondersteun en te verbeter.
Een van die uitsonderlike kenmerke van hierdie promenade is die toeganklikheid vir gestremdes met`n rolstoelvriendelike ingang by Sandkasteel in Diazweg.
Ander voordele sluit in veilige toegang tot die strand, toeganklikheid vir stappers en drawwers, ń veiliger omgewing vir hengelaars en ook die beskerming van die duine.
