Toby rolled his eyes, but Sargent McGruff just smirked. Toby couldn't argue too much as he had done lately a lot to deserve it.
The case was an important one. A few days before a city council member had some trees stolen from his new landscaping.
The police had one lead. They had surveillance equipment which caught suspicious radio traffic from that location about the time when the burglary took place. Then that same radio source was caught again last night somewhere else in town.
The police equipment had reported the transmission came11,148 feet from the
Airport Tower, but they could not determine the direction. "Toby that is 3,550 in dog-yards." That narrowed down the areas of interest, it still included many acres of bogs to search. Toby said he needed to go home to get his Xtra-Tufs.
When Toby got home he got on his high secure VPN system and contacted some fiends at the UFO Tracking Club. He knew they had clandestine sophisticated equipment based in the midtown area.
They checked and found their equipment had picked up the radio signals too, and their data showed that yesterday it was coming from 1,237 meters from their
equipment base, but they also could not determine the direction.
Toby thanked them for the help and did a little more work on his computer. Then his tail started wagging. He thought, "I will still have several hours to spare before I have to show up at the office." So he put his Xtra-Tufs away and headed out to look for clues.
