Welcome to Franke Lake at Clark State Forest! Franke Lake has offered visitors a chance to relax on its banks and picnic in the shade for generations. Just imagine this scene from July 1941 as it was reported in the Scott County Journal, “The families of J.A. Clark, Max Clark and Merrill Clark and Mrs. Alice Christie of Ida Grove, Iowa went for a steak fry to Franke Lake Monday evening to celebrate Max Cather Clark’s 17 birthday. His grandmother baked him a cake.” Too bad there is no time to relax now! Not when there is a geocache to be found! Happy caching!
Clark State Forest is free to enter. The property is open to the public from 7:00am to 11:00pm. The office is open Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 4:00pm. This geocache was placed with permission and help from Clark State Forest. Container is a microcache. Need more information about us?
