Nearby is a 16th century house, it is one of a few surviving houses of that age in the area and legend has it that Queen Elizabeth I used the house as a hunting lodge. I believe the building is Grade II listed.
The house is also supposed to be haunted by a group of monks who meet up once a year hunting for the remains of one of the previous owners who drowned in the moat.
