Non-traditional geocaches bring variety and excitement to geocaching by offering unique experiences beyond the classic "hidden container with a logbook." Puzzle caches captivate those who love the thrill of solving intricately crafted challenges, while multi-caches appeal to adventurers who enjoy uncovering stage-by-stage surprises. Virtual caches invite explorers to discover quirky roadside oddities or historic landmarks, and EarthCaches delight geology enthusiasts with opportunities to study fascinating rock formations. Webcams provide a fun twist for the camera-friendly, while events and CITO (Cache In Trash Out) gatherings offer social connections and chances to give back by cleaning up local parks. For those who love blending hobbies, letterbox hybrids combine the creativity of letterboxing with the adventure of geocaching, ensuring there's something for everyone.
For this challenge, you will need to find a total of 1000 non-traditional caches. However, here is the twist... in order to encourage cache diversity (we all have our favorite cache types), no more than 200 caches (which is 20%) can be from a single cache type. This is only an upper limit, and you can have a cache type total that adds up to under 200. Adventure labs do not count.
So for example suppose if you found 800 puzzles, 500 multis, 400 virtuals, 250 earthcaches, 150 letterboxes, 100 events, and 70 wherigos. Only the first 200 caches would count from the puzzles, multis, virtual, and earthcache categories (since each of these totals are greater than 200), while all 150 letterboxes, 100 events, and 70 wherigos would count (since each is less than or equal to 200), for a total of 1170 caches.
