Geocache Description:

The cache is not at the supplied co-ordinates

The Four Seasons is a group of four violin concertos by Italian composer Antonio Vivaldi. Each of the four is named for a season of the year, and each is meant to musically represent typical scenes for its season.

According to Wikipedia

They were a revolution in musical conception: Vivaldi represented flowing creeks, singing birds (of different species, each specifically characterized), a shepherd and his barking dog, buzzing flies, storms, drunken dancers, hunting parties from both the hunters' and the prey's point of view, frozen landscapes, and warm winter fires.”

Personally I don’t “see” it. All I can hear is violins. Some stuff I like, some I don’t. But hey, I can’t taste the “woody”, “fruity”, “nutty” or “citrus” notes in my beer either. Some I like. Some, not so much. A bit of a Philistine all round, I guess.

In a different way, the passing of the seasons in this part of the world is imaged along the pathway at Lake Yandel’ora. As you move along the path (on the side of the lake closest to Mt Annan Drive), you encounter a series of eight metal pillars. Each is marked with information that helps you get a feel for the progression of the weather here through the year. Month-by-month temperatures, and rainfall, as well as altitude and geographic co-ordinates help paint a picture of life in this place that cannot be experienced on any one visit.

As you move along the path, information you gain on these pillars will assist in determining the coordinates of the cache. A couple of suggestions … the year’s progress starts near the given co-ordinates. There are no complicated maths involved. Just find the appropriate numerical figure from the relevant pole, and plug it into the formula for the co-ordinates. With a couple of simple (and I do mean simple) variations. I have tried to order the questions to minimise backtracking, but to avoid walking back and forth from start to end and back to the start again (and getting cranky with the CO) READ THROUGH THE QUESTIONS FIRST.

On our times here, we tend to just keep walking along the path, and all’s been well. But in setting things up for the cache, and stopping here and there, taking photo’s, recording co-ordinates etc I noticed that I was the object of attention for a few mozzies. So it’s probably wise to have some of Aerogard for this side of the lake, where things are a bit more shaded and damp.
