Geocache Description:

****** Congratulations, GetRich76 on the FTF ******

Take a walk on the wild side! Opened in 1982, this 240-acre park offers something for everyone with picnic areas, a playground, a 1.25 mile bicycle/jogging path, an interpretive nature center, a 3500-foot boardwalk with observation tower, and canoe/kayak rentals. Ecosystems in the park include fresh-water wetland, oak-dominated hardwood forest, cypress domes and the Hillsborough River.

Why is it called Lettuce Lake? The park was named after the lettuce look-alike plants, such as spatterdock and water lilies, that float among the alligators on the surface of its waters.

The Cache: Come find me in my little hidey-hole. I'm only a few feet off the paved path - no need to bushwack. Enjoy the walk in one of my favorite parks. Bring your own pen or pencil to sign the log. Please note: There is a $2 park entrance fee unless you are an annual pass holder.
