There was once a railway between Hobart and the Derwent Valley.
Last running in the early 2000s, it is now sadly falling into disrepair, with the exception of the section maintained by the Derwent Valley Railway, with the hope of re-establishing the track out to Mt Field National Park one day.
This would be a great tourism draw card for the local area, but progress is slow.
Seeings we were heading out this way to check a couple of DNFs we decided to add another to this series.
After a stroll along an old 4WD track (about 25 metres) you will find the tracks. Very close to here is GZ.
