Geocache Description:

This is a simple park & grab. Look out over Rt 19 to get a nice view of Canonsburg Lake.

This is a redo of a cache called "Lakeview" that used to exist here. It was archived about a year ago and I have been wanting to bring it back because I quite liked it. Enjoy!

Facts about Canonsburg Lake:
- The dam was built in 1943
- The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania acquired the property in 1957
- It is managed by the PA Fish & Boat Commission which controls 138 acres including the lake, dam, and shoreline
- It is a 76-acre impoundment* of Little Chartiers Creek
- The concrete gravity dam** is 525 feet long and 45 feet high
- The estimated normal maximum depth is 18 feet
- The fish population includes: bass, bluegill, carp, crappie, catfish, shad, sunfish, and trout

*impounding a creek is the process of using a dam, dike, or other barrier to raise the water level of a creek above its natural level
**a gravity dam is a concrete or stone dam that uses its weight and resistance against the foundation to hold back water
