This cache is being placed in celebration of the Mission Viejo Animal Shelter's 30th anniversary. This cache will start with 5 Geopet Trackables and have a handful of 30th-anniversary coins for those first to find it. As you search for the log, you may hear or see dogs, cats, rabbits and other animals the shelter houses. There is room for SWAG and bring your own pen.
History: On October 13, 1993, then City Councilwoman Sharon Cody made it Pawsible when the Mission Viejo Animal Services Center (MVAS) opened their doors. Not long after MVAS opened its doors, July 1, 1995, the City of Laguna Niguel contracted with the City of Mission Viejo for their animal control and shelter services.
Since January of 2009, the Mission Viejo Animal Services Center has handled this function for the City of Aliso Viejo and as of January 2017, also handling the cities of Laguna Hills and Rancho Santa Margarita.
