Welcome to Hawley, a small town steeped in Pennsylvania history.
Here you find yourself at the northern end of Lake Wallenpaupack, a man-made lake created about a century ago by Pennsylvania Power & Light primarily for hydroelectric power generation and for flood control.
- Please click to watch this 2-minute video that shows how the flow of water and the spinning of magnetic turbines can actually generate electricity, power that can be used for all sorts of purposes.
- Next, open the locked box with a model of Hawley inside. (The combination to open the box is the year that Lake Wallenpaupack was completed.)
- Once you have access to the inside of the box and see what's there, gently spin clockwise and you'll "see the lights" you'll see to unlock the inner chamber and sign the geocache log to prove you found this geocache. In order to log a "found-it" on this geocache, you must sign the log book with your geocaching name.
- After completing the geocache by signing the log, return everything to its proper place and lock both locks, scrambling the number dials for the next visitor. The stamper and stamp pad must remain with this geocache for those who participate in letterboxing.
