Geocache Description:

Frankton Trail Series Update

Recently, the council have announced that a large section of Frankton Track will be closed for the majority of 2026 when work begins in January on a new wastewater pipeline between Queenstown and Frankton.
Because of the closure, many of the Frankton Trail caches will be off-limits to the public. We understand this will make it difficult for those trying to complete the full series and find the challenge cache at the end.

Until the track is fully open in late 2026, please take note of the final cache coordinates below. Please note that this listing is not located along the closed Frankton Trail. While this series cache may not be accessible, please do attempt the final challenge cache using these coordinates.

S 45° 02.182 E 168° 39.632

Happy caching! We hope the track will be open to the public again soon, so the full series can be found. Please send us a message at any time if you have issues with this cache or others in the series.

👋 Hey! Welcome to the Frankton Trail!

Queenstown, nestled on the shores of Lake Wakatipu, is renowned for its stunning natural beauty and adventure-packed activities. The Frankton Trail showcases some of the best views in the region, looking out to Kelvin Heights and even the Remarkable mountains. We highly recommend walking or cycling this beautiful trail!

Having trouble finding a cache?

If you encounter difficulties locating a cache in this series, send us a message. We'll check and replace it if necessary. Once verified, we'll provide you with the required numbers so you can continue to the bonus cache.

The trail takes about 25 minutes one way by bike and 45 minutes on foot. This 11-cache series includes a variety of container types and hiding spots, making it an exciting adventure for all.

Special thanks to Rolly2 for their expertise in selecting unique hiding locations—we appreciate your contributions!

Complete the series and find the final cache!

Each cache contains one or two coordinate numbers. After collecting all the numbers from the 11 caches, combine them to reveal the coordinates of the final location—a picturesque spot waiting to be discovered.

This is cache #10 in the series, featuring a small-sized container. Be mindful of muggles, especially on busy days when the trail is lively with visitors.

If you need assistance, geo-message TeamCacheventures after reviewing the hint. If there's an issue with the cache, feel free to post a "needs maintenance" log.

Good luck and enjoy the adventure!
