The Castel was a major battleground in Independence war in 1948. Today it is a national park, surrounded by a fence, with entrance fee.
This multi cache will take you around this part of Mevaseret Zion, at the base of The Castel.
Posted coordinates are at the junction that leads to The Castel and also to the Peace Garden below it.
Final location is not too far.

Stage 1 (Posted coordinates):
There is a modest monument in the corner before the turn to The Castel, in honor of the defenders of Jerusalem. On the right there is a blueish plaque, and under it an explanation about it.

Stage 3 (Peace Garden Playground):
Find the music activity for children and the instrument in the photo. In front of it is an explanation sign with few examples to play. One (in the middle) is by a famous composer.

Then go to the playground fortress nearby. Go around (no need to go inside) and count all the Mevaseret Zion symbols and lions.

Stage 4 (Memorials):
Find the blue sign about the maabara that used to be here in the early 1950s. Maabara was a transition camp for the new immigrants, when Israel had no resources to receive them elsewhere, and built temporary sites for them all over the country. I found this sign interesting, gaining knowledge about local history i did not know about.
