The war memorial here is a granite monument on the lines of the Biggar Mercat Cross which stood on the Cross Knowe until about 1823. It consists of a square column on octagonal plinth with inscription in black lettering. The capital of the column is not of classical design, and is of an hour-glass form with a wider base than the top, and a scrolled surround. The upper base is octagonal with a square base of equal dimensions below, and a larger square base as the foundation. Surrounded by a perimeter rail made of iron bars and stone columns. About 15 feet high.
