Welcome to Cryptid Quest! A Geo Art for those participating in GeoWoodstock XXI that are looking for a more relaxed and accessible caching experience while in the Mountain State. Appalachia has a rich culture and mythos surrounding the area, no more exemplified by the myriad of "Cryptids" that are rumored to be found nearby. Cryptids are an elusive class of creatures with sometimes supernatural abilities or appearances that, despite best efforts, haven't been proven to exist. Join me as we explore some of the Cryptids that may or may not inhabit the hills of Appalachia!

Hopkinsville Goblins
The story of the Hopkinsville Goblins began on August 21, 1955, when a group of terrified residents from a rural Kentucky farmhouse arrived at the police station, claiming they had been besieged for hours by strange, goblin-like creatures with large pointed ears, clawlike hands, eyes that glowed yellow and spindly legs. The encounter reportedly began when Billy Ray Taylor saw a glowing, circular object land in a nearby gully. Armed with a shotgun and a pistol, Taylor and another man, Lucky Sutton, described firing on the creatures, which appeared unaffected and continued to harass the home, even grabbing Taylor’s hair at one point. Despite police investigations finding no evidence of goblins or a UFO, the story became a legend.
Looks like I struck out in this location, I wonder why Mothman would flee here anyway, seems kind of out of left field
