MOE-GT #11: Home of the Pepperoni Roll
Category: Marion's Mining
The pepperoni roll, a beloved West Virginia staple, originated in Marion County in the 1920s and remains virtually unknown outside the state. Created by Giuseppe Argiro, an Italian immigrant and coal miner, it featured pepperoni baked into soft yeast bread for a convenient, hearty lunch. Its popularity among miners led Giuseppe to open a bakery in 1927, which still operates today. This innovative snack requires no refrigeration, making it perfect for outdoor adventures like camping in the scenic West Virginia mountains.

TO FIND THIS CACHE you'll need to visit the home of the pepperoni roll and locate the small birdhouse-like container. Inside, you'll receive a cloth mask that can be used on the nearby pepperoni roll sign. Hold it over the sign to reveal the three numbers for the lock - it's not perfect, so you may need to adjust your alignment as you work through the puzzle. Please replace this tool and the lock exactly as you found it when finished.
