Temple of Han Yu is one of the Chaozhou Eight Famous Scenes, which is located on the east bank of Hanjiang River, west of Bijiashan Mountain. It was built in 999 of the Northern Song Dynasty and is the oldest and best preserved memorial to the Tang Dynasty writer Han Yu in China.
In 819, Han Yu was demoted to the position of the governor of Chaozhou. Although he had been here for less than eight months, he had done many great things for the people, which brought about earth-shaking changes to the then barbaric Chaozhou. In memory of him, many places in Chaozhou have named after him.
It is said that Han Yu often climbed this mountain and planted oak trees with his own hands. The blooming oak flowers symbolize auspiciousness.
