Geocache Description:

This will be the day after London Calling 2025, and for those who attended our event in 2021 or 2023, this means it's CiTO Sunday. But this time, we're not going to Wimbledon Common - instead, join us in Elmbridge Meadows for a very special additional celebration. This space was where the UK's very first geocache was placed, back on 6th June 2000. So join us for a CiTO in this historic (for us geocachers at least) location which has just transformed. There will be the usual litter-picking duties, but we'll also be focusing on tackling the invasive Himalayan Balsam which is unfortunately spread down the Hogsmill River which flows through this area.

This is a chance to give back with other cachers from near and far on the day after the Block Party. The closest train station is Berrylands, which has services out of Waterloo or you can also catch the services at Vauxhall, Clapham Junction or Wimbledon on the way. It is in Travelcard Zone 5, and contactless payments are accepted. Street parking is available nearby, although we always recommend using public transport whenever possible.

As we come together to celebrate the 25th birthday of Geocaching weekend, did you know that the Happy Birthday song actually has three verses? The second verse goes:

From good friends and true,
From old friends and new,
May good luck go with you,
And happiness too.
