I thinking about a replacement but decided to start afresh in what may not be the perfect spot, but we'll see. Remember that you are very visible when searching.
SANDWICH
This part of the name is a tribute to f0t0m0m - the cache is sandwiched between f0t0m0m’s Panorama caches. [2016 note - all of the Panorama caches are to the west, so it is now an open-face sandwich]
Park at N34 08.844 W118 12.344 and start scrambling up the hill along the chain link fence (although stairs have now been thoughtfully added). You are obligated to sneer and hiss at the house at 2740 Valle Vista Drive that’s not supposed to be there. No structures are supposed to be allowed on top of the ridge, but this fell between the cracks for LA and Glendale city zoning. [It's more of a dramatic sore thumb when you look up at it from below]
[You can ignore this in 2025]: Once you start hiking along the ridge, on the small path, you pass a large bush on your left, which is where the cache used to be before disappearing numerous times. It is now on the north side of a small artemesia bush which is itself 15' or so north of the trail. See the spoiler photos if you need help.
There are wonderful hikes (including caches) in both directions on the ridge.
STEALTH
To appreciate this part of the name, be here at 7:55 a.m. on any January 1 [that doesn't fall on a Sunday].
I actually like standing at N34 08.842 W118 12.362. One year a couple brought a cooler with Bloody Mary’s, complete with celery sticks.
The title doesn't reflect the fact that this is started out a Rose Parade/Bowl themed cache - you gotta be here at the right time.
