Come on out to North Park on Saturday, February 22nd, as we help the Allegheny County Park Rangers do some habitat restoration work close to the Avalon Shelter. So, what exactly is "habitat restoration"? Great question! For this particular project, we will be assisting with some trail improvements along the trail that runs along Marshall Lake. This trail has seen a lot of work done of it over the last year and the rangers are hoping to complete these improvements this year. Doesn't that sound like a grand time!? I sure do! We will be gathering at 8:45 at the above coordinates with work beginning right around 9:00AM. The effort will be lead by the park rangers and they will show us what we will be doing. The rangers will provide all the tools, gloves, and eye wear for this project. They will show us what tools we will be using and the proper/safe way of using the tools. Please dress appropriately for this CITO project as we will be outdoors, in February, in the middle of the winter. I will be bringing a box of joe and munchins to get us all hopped up and ready to go. I also suggest that you bring some water to drink. The project will wrap up around noon, earlier if we get done quicker.
So, a recap for the CITO:
