This cache is based on a Geoart series of mystery caches called Famous Fly Fishing Rivers AK located near Eagle River, AK. The cache is not at the listed location. You will need to solve a fairly simple puzzle to get the actual coordinates for the cache, but it is a good place to get started. To solve this puzzle, you need to find the coordinates of a famous fly-fishing river that are hidden somewhere on this page. Enter these coordinates into Google Maps or similar map program and look for the name of the river. Then enter the name of the river, and the full name (no abbreviations) of the state in which it is located into Puzzle-Checker. For example, if the river is the Colorado River, your answer is ColoradoRiverColorado (No Spaces). Submit this answer to Puzzle-Checker, and you will receive the actual coordinates for the cache as well as a hint. There are no numbers in the answer to this puzzle!
My grandfather lived most of his 99 years on this famous river, and my father grew up on it as well. He was a world-famous fly fisherman and is in the Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame. He landed on Utah Beach and was in most of the major European battles of WWII. For his heroism in the battle to free France from the German occupation, he received the French Legion of Honor.
This is the river where I caught my first steelhead in the exact same place where my father caught his. My oldest daughter caught her first trout in the same place where my dad caught his first trout when he was 2. My father and grandfather have fished many rivers, and they believe this is the most beautiful river of them all. The background picture was taken near the small fishing lodge that my grandfather started in 1957. People came from all over the world to fish here for summer steelhead. I have been very blessed to have been able to visit such a wonderful place, and to have had such amazing parents and grandparents. My grandmother and grandfather were married for 77 years. Below are links to a Ted Talk my Grandpa gave in Portland, and to an amazing documentary about him returning to France to fish for salmon. It really is the love story of my grandparents
