[SLO] Predoslje - Cerkev sv. Siksta

Ime Predoslje izhaja iz imena pred-roslo, kar pomeni sotesko oziroma naravni most preko soteske. Vas zaznamuje lega nad sotesko Kokre. [1]
Od leta 1851 je imela kot vaška občina pomembno vlogo gospodarskega središča, kjer so bili poleg številnih mlinov še mlekarna, trgovina in gostilne. Vas je dobila šolo leta 1860 (stavba ob cerkvi) in na mestu stare novo cerkev sv. Siksta leta 1882. [1]
Anton Zois (kranjski veleposlanik, politik in filantrop), 22. julija 1808 v Ljubljani, je bil sin barona Karla in Serafine, rojene grofice Aichelburg.

[ENG] Predoslje - Church of St. Siksta

Predoslje has a rich history, the first record of Predoslje dates back to 1453, the original Gothic church was built around 1530. The village shared its history with the nearby Brdo Castle estate and its owners, the noble Zois family. The name Predoslje derives from the name pred-roslo, meaning gorge or natural bridge over a gorge. The village is characterised by its location above the Kokra gorge. [1]
Since 1851, it has played an important role as an economic centre as a village municipality, with numerous mills, a dairy, a shop and taverns. The village built a school in 1860 (in the building next to the church) and a new church of St. Sixtus in 1882 on the site of the old one. [1]
Anton Zois (Kranj ambassador, politician and philanthropist), born in Ljubljana on 22 July 1808, was the son of Baron Karl and Serafina (born Countess Aichelburg). In 1836, after the death of his father Karl, he inherited the Brdo fideikomis. He was a Knight of the Order of the Iron Crown, 3rd Class. [1]
From 1861 to 1869 he was a deputy in the Kranj Regional Assembly. First as a representative of the ambassadors, and after 1867 also as a deputy in the peasant curia. He resigned in 1869 due to illness. After the establishment of municipalities in Kranj, he was elected the first mayor of Predoslje in 1851. He was mayor until 1862. During this time he had a new school built. In his will he left a large sum to the National Reading Room in Ljubljana and to the poor of Predoslje and Šentjakob parishes in Ljubljana, where his wife Katarina Schwarzenberg was from. [1]
The cache is hidden in the surroundings of the church, where you can park, and after finding the treasure you can go for a walk along the Zoisova trail - an easy walking trail (1.8km) with information boards about Predoslje today and in the past.
