Anderson Park is a somewhat underwhelming community park located in Brunswick, Victoria. During the various lockdowns of 2020 and 2021, it became a haven for local residents. People came to the park to soak up the sunshine, enjoy the fresh air, and spend time with their families while adhering to social distancing guidelines.
One of the more appealing aspects of Anderson Park during this time was how local residents came together to spread messages of hope and love. They routinely painted encouraging words and images in chalk on the bluestone walls of the park, creating a colourful and uplifting atmosphere. These messages became a source of inspiration and comfort for all who visited the park.
Children often used Anderson Park during the lockdowns, finding a much-needed outlet for their energy and creativity. They played on the well-used and somewhat dated playground equipment while their parents relaxed on the grass, avoiding the occasional lawn bomb (Dog Poo).
The park also received welcome visits from a taco truck, which regularly parked up to provide delicious food and a convivial atmosphere for visitors. This helped to make the park a popular destination for people of all ages, even during difficult times.
In 2023, Anderson Park was refreshed with new gardens, facilities, and playground equipment. It is a much more inviting and inclusive space, catering to the diverse needs and interests of the community. Residents continue to enjoy the park for relaxation, play, and connection with their neighbours. And the messages of hope and love once written in chalk on the walls now serve as a reminder of the park's resilience and enduring spirit.
The cache is our THIRD attempt at a hide in this park, the first TWO WERE routinely discarded. We are trying again with a different container and a different location. WE HAVE CLEARLY MARKED THE CONTAINER WITH A KIND REQUEST NOT TO DESTROY OR DISCARD IT.
The container has plenty of room for trackables and swaps.
