Pri vasi Podgrad se v slikovitem sotočju v reko Savo izlivata reki Ljubljanica in Kamniška Bistrica.
Sotočje naj bi omenjal že Valvasor, vendar je on navajal sotočje štirih rek – Ljubljanice, Save, Kamniške Bistrice in Besnice. Ljubljanica in Sava sta bili nekoč pomembni plovni povezavi in hkrati vir oskrbe z ribami. Po Savi so »flosarji« vozili les in se zahvaljevali sv. Miklavžu, da se niso potopili.
Sotočje je še danes privlačen cilj ribičev. Predstavlja eno zadnjih ohranjenih večjih naravnih prodišč na Savi, zato je tukaj eno zadnjih pomembnejših drstišč sulca v Evropi. Del Save, ki teče skozi občino Dol pri Ljubljani, je bil od nekdaj elitni sulčarski revir. Poleg rib lahko tukaj opazujemo številne vodne ptice, na travnikih med Savo in Mlinščico si lahko naberemo gobe, pozorno oko pa bo opazilo še številne druge zanimive rastline in živali, ki so tukaj doma.

Near the village of Podgrad, the Ljubljanica and Kamniška Bistrica rivers flow into the Sava River at a picturesque confluence.
The confluence is said to have been mentioned by Valvasor, but he was referring to the confluence of four rivers – the Ljubljanica, the Sava, the Kamniška Bistrica and the Besnica. The Ljubljanica and the Sava were once important waterways and a source of fish supply. “Rafters” used to transport wood along the Sava and thanked St. Nicholas for not drowning.
The confluence is still an attractive destination for fishermen today. It represents one of the last preserved large natural gravel areas on the Sava, which is why it is one of the last important spawning grounds for the rudd in Europe. The part of the Sava that flows through the municipality of Dol pri Ljubljani has always been an elite rudd fishing area. In addition to fish, we can observe numerous waterfowl here, we can pick mushrooms on the meadows between the Sava and the Mlinščica, and an attentive eye will notice many other interesting plants and animals that are at home here.
