- Operation Worldwide Cache Hide is a global event where geocachers hide themed caches, which are published on a specific date.
- This year’s theme: Operation Sci-Fi – Celebrate "Star Wars Day" May the Force Be With You, by creating then hiding a science fiction-themed cache.

Come to this prequel debrief event to get ready for the OPERATION SCI-FI Worldwide Cache Hide mass geocache publishing project coming later on May 4th! The theme this year is Sci-Fi, so it's time to unleash your creativity. This event is the perfect opportunity to brainstorm ideas, share your creations in progress, or just enjoy some donuts.
Breaking News! And that's not all—Come out to this event to learn about the exciting Locationless Cache to celebrate 25 years of geocaching, offering a unique and memorable challenge for all participants!

Sci-Fi Container Creation Brainstorming Station:
Join us at the brainstorming session to spark creative ideas for your Sci-Fi themed caches! Whether you’ve already built a container or just have pictures of one you’ve seen out in the wild, come share your inspiration with others. Discuss the possibilities—perhaps you’d create a cache container inspired by your favorite character, planet, spaceship, UFO, alien, or a beloved sci-fi book or movie. Let's explore all the exciting possibilities! Maybe you'll craft a cache container inspired by your favorite sci-fi character, iconic planet, spaceship, UFO, alien, or a classic sci-fi book or movie. Perhaps a pool noodle light saber could be the perfect container idea, or even a container shaped like a TARDIS or Millennium Falcon! Imagine the fun of utilizing a 3D printer or maker lab to create intricate, out-of-this-world designs. Whether it’s a treasure chest from a space adventure, a metallic space capsule, a Sci-Fi "book" geocache box, an alien artifact, meteorite cache, alien egg, a planetary globe, or a time travel-inspired cache, the options are endless.
A Sci-Fi Bingo Challenge is a possibility to celebrate May the 4th "May the Force Be With You" could be an exciting and engaging activity event for geocachers. It would tie into the spirit of Star Wars and the broader Sci-Fi universe, offering a fun way to explore themed caches and interact with fellow enthusiasts. i.e. Cache with a lightsaber design, Cache container shaped like a spaceship, Cache hidden in an "alien" location, Found a cache named after a Sci-Fi book or movie, Cache with a time travel theme, Cache with "alien" in the title or description.
Operation Sci-Fi Builder’s Event
We’re excited to explore the possibility of hosting an Operation Sci-Fi Builder’s Event, similar to the successful GCAVZJH event! This would be a fantastic opportunity for geocachers to come together and brainstorm, share ideas, and build their Sci-Fi-themed geocache containers in preparation for the upcoming Operation Sci-Fi event on May 4th.
Come join us for some creativity, fun, and maybe even a few surprises!

Cache Creation Guidelines:
- Theme: Your cache must be Sci-Fi themed (can be any science fiction subject from movies, TV shows, or books).
- Container & Cache Type: Use any container or cache type of your choice.
- Submission: Submit your cache to a local reviewer 14 days before May 4th, 2025 with the reviewer note:
"The cache IS NOT ready to be published yet. This geocache is part of a series that will be published on May 4, 2025 @ 8am. If everything checks out, please set up the geocache for publishing at that time."
- Insert the current Cache Page Project Logo at the bottom of this page to your cache hide description.(optional)
- Title Prefix: Include “OPERATION SCI-FI” in the title of your cache page.
- Final Setup: Ensure the cache page is finalized before submission, as no changes can be made after it is locked for publishing.
How to Participate:
- Submit Cache: Submit your cache with all necessary details 14 days in advance i.e. have your cache ready and hid before Sunday April 20.
- Email Notification: After your cache is published, email the link to geocachingcentral@aol.com to be added to the official project Bookmark List and receive a participation badge.
- Personalized Badge: All hiders receive a digital badge after their cache is published.

Send a Photo (Optional):
- Email one image of your completed cache container to geocachingcentral@aol.com with your geocache name, state/province, and country.
