For all the headline-grabbing exploits of top scorer Jamie Vardy and twinkle-toed winger Riyad Mahrez, Leicester City’s fairytale Premier League title success has been very much a collective effort. What is amazing is that the starting eleven that was responsible for this collective effort cost just £22m, according to a report by BBC . That amount is less than half the amount Manchester City paid for Kevin de Bruyne at the start of the season.
The Manager Claudio Ranieri
A short spell as Greece's national manager ended in November 2014, but it was not long before the Roma-born coach returned to management when he was announced as Leicester City manager ahead of the 2015/16 season.
In his first season as the Foxes' manager, he guided the pre-season relegation candidates to their first Premier League trophy - winning the Manager of the Year accolade.
Ranieri has won the Manager of the Month award five times, including three in his title-winning campaign.
Despite taking Leicester through to the knockout stage of the UEFA Champions League as group winners in their first foray in the competition he parted company with the club in February 2017 after five Premier League victories all season left the Foxes a place and a point above the relegation zone.
