Alpine View Lane - A Step Back in Time
Welcome to Alpine View Lane in Parklands, a scenic spot with a fascinating history. Originally known as Preston’s Road, this area was once home to a bustling sawmill that played a key role in the local timber industry. Logs were cut from the surrounding forests and processed here for decades before the sawmill operations eventually ceased.
Today, Alpine View Lane does not offer beautiful views of the surrounding countryside— those views have changed, to a busy residential area. The once-unobstructed sightline to the majestic Alps is now obscured by the thick trees that have grown over the years, a reminder of how time and nature have reclaimed this land.
The cache is hidden near the historical intersection of Preston’s Road and Burwood Road, which was once a busy crossroads when the sawmill was active. This area would have been filled with activity as timber was transported, workers passed through, and the industry shaped the local community. Now, it’s a peaceful spot, but one that serves as a stopping point for many visitors trying to navigate their way in and out of the forest, often pausing here to check their maps or plan their next move, until a quick toot moves them along.
Stealth will be required here as this can be a high muggled area during the day. Not the safest spot for the little cachlings.
