In partnership with the Cougar Canyon Streamkeepers we will be working to restore the trail by laying down bark mulch. We worked here back in 2021 and are returning to touch up the trail again.
Tasks will involve transporting the mulch to the worksite using wheelbarrows, clearing back the undergrowth and spreading the mulch into place.
In addition to this, there are many tires that have been dumped in the canyon. Over the last few years several of these have been removed, however we'll continue to clear out any we locate.
Be aware that the terrain may have rocks/roots and sections are narrow with short steep drop offs on one side to the creek.
Long pants are highly recommended as is sturdy footwear (boots, hikers). The area will have some blackberry and deadfall/windfall to contend with.
Important: The Streamkeepers do not have a large inventory of wheelbarrows. To make this successful we'll need folks to bring one if they can.. Please note in your 'Will Attend' if you have one you are able to bring.
To help reach areas wheelbarrows can't reach, we are hoping to have several 5 gallon pails we can use.
Also bring gloves and water!
There is plenty of good street parking at the coordinates and along Westview Drive. The trail head is on the East side of the road, North side of the Creek. If you arrive a little late, just walk down the trail and you'll locate us.
