The Lauridsen Skatepark opened in downtown Des Moines on May 7, 2021. Within the week, it played host to the internationally acclaimed Dew Tour of 2021 and hosted skate professionals and aficionados from around the world! But how did the largest open skate park in the nation come to be in Des Moines, Iowa? Take a tour through this skatepark from either of the two visitor's paths to learn more about the very unique features of this park and all the amazing work that went into its careful construction. After completing the five AL stages, you will have gathered the necessary clues to find this bonus cache.
The AL is open for you to experience the skatepark in any order you choose, and to do so safely from the paved walking trail on the east side of the park along the river, or the sidewalk/visitor viewing area on the west side of the park. Most of the things you will be looking for are on the west side of the park, so be advised. The park's free parking lot is located at N 41 35.784, W 93 37.083, (street address of 1111 Illinois Street). Please note, the parking area gates open and close with the park: 6 am to 10:30 pm.
