Welcome to the festivities.Β The parking lot of Bison Haven Wing Bar & Grill was already buzzing with excitement as geocachers from all over arrived for the much-anticipated annual gathering. GPS devices and smartphones in hand, they exchanged knowing smiles and greetings, eager to dive into a day of food, fun, and adventure.
Β
Inside, long tables were set up with steaming plates of chicken wings in every flavor imaginable. Spicy buffalo, tangy barbecue, and even a daring questionable ghost pepper variety tempted the taste buds of the hungry geocachers. Laughter and chatter filled the air as old friends reunited and new ones were made over shared stories of their latest finds and most challenging caches.
Β
Next to the registration table, attendees lined up to sign the giant log book, for it is a tradition that marks their participation in this special event. Some decorated their entries with stickers, while others added intricate doodles of Signal the Frog, the beloved mascot of geocaching.
Β
Giddiness and excitement peaked as the raffle began.Β This years prizes ranged from logbooks and trackable tags to the grand prizeβan exclusive, newly-released geocoin that every collector was eager to add to their stash. Cheers erupted as winners were announced, each recipient holding up their prize with a triumphant grin.
Β
In the meanwhile, a special celebration was held for the youngest and oldest cachers in attendance. An Eight-year-old girl, beaming with pride, received a stuffed Signal the Frog for being the youngest, while a seasoned adventurer who loved doing puzzles, at an impressive eighty-two years old, was honored for his two decades and a half of dedication to the hobby. Their shared love of the game bridged generations, inspiring everyone in the room.
Β
Newly hidden caches got people excited and as the day progressed, groups formed to embark on a thrilling missionβto be the first to find a brand-new series of caches hidden just for the event. Equipped with TOTT's and a competitive spirit, they dashed into the great outdoors, determined to earn the coveted FTF log.Β FTF is always on a geocachers mind.
Β
'26 events could possibly have a white elephant gift exchange.Β Β As they said their goodbyes, one thing was certainβthis gathering was more than just a meal; it was a celebration of the adventure, camaraderie, and excitement that made geocaching an unforgettable experience.
Β
Inspired by the days event, people were happy as a lark and by the end of the day, the geocachers left with full stomachs, cherished memories, and perhaps a few more finds under their belts.Β
