Oh it's-a lonesome away from your kindred and all,
By the campfire at night we'll hear the wild dingoes call
But there's-a nothing so lonesome, morbid or drear,
Than to stand in the bar of a pub with no beer
"Slim Dusty 1957"
So many historic Country pubs have closed over the years hopefully one day they can be brought back again and continue to service the comunity and tourists of the area.
The Yatina Hotel which was built in 1874 as a quintessential two storey stone Australian hotel closed in 1961. It was originally built for Rowland Nutt and despite the passing of the years it still sports a grand painted sign on the wall for Penfold’s Wines. The pub has gone by the name of Hotel Orlando as well as Yatina Hotel at different times over the years..
In recent years the film "The Royal Hotel" was filmed in and around Yatina, and the Yatina Hotel specifically, was used as a primary location for the feature film. It was filmed in 2022 and released in 2023 & stared Hugo Weaving, Julia Garner & Jessica Henwick. To see more about this being filmed in Yatina click the link below.
