Geocache Description:

***Please proceed to the posted coordinates***

This cache is being placed in memory of my very first find,  GC2E4F0: Children's Memorial Sculpture Garden. My wish is to honor those geocachers, SmileAwhile, Dewey & Curb, who placed this cache back in August of 2010.  After 14 years of enjoyment, the cache was unfortunately archived.  This cache represents the cherished memories of those family members and friends who are no longer with us, as well as the undeniable healing spirit of Geocaching.

The History of Nancy Anderson Park

As a young child Nancy Anderson and her neighbor would take bicycle rides in the area aro nd their home. She had fond memories of the Sunset Hills area, where the two would stop and enjoy lunches in the sunshine, enjoying the quiet and the natural beauty of their surroundings. As the years hurried by,   a “raspberry-colored house” and a second-hand store populated the landscape. Realizing the need to recoup the area, Ms. Anderson worked with the City of Warrensburg to have the land purchased as public property which could be revitalized. In 2004, in recognition of her work as a devoted public servant and her success in recapturing the beauty of the land, the City honored her by proclaiming the area “Nancy Anderson Park."

The History of the Children’s Memorial Garden

In 1999, Warrensburg residents Craig and Ramona Conant lost their daughter Angel in an auto accident. The Conants became actively involved with families who had experienced similar losses of children, and through these families, the idea to have a common place that children could be remembered and memorialized in a cheerful setting.

The Nancy Anderson Park and Children’s Memorial Gardens

In 2005, the Gardens found a home in Nancy Anderson Park. These Gardens feature beautiful bronze statues displaying children playing and a granite wall inscribed with the names of “those who left us too soon.” The Gardens are a tribute to all that nature offers and a much needed place for remembrance and reflection for families who have suffered the loss of a child.

The cache is located on property owned by the City of Warrensburg.  It has been placed with the permission of Brandon Maberry at Warrensburg Parks & Rec. Please be respectful and do NOT attempt this cache at night.
