Geocache Description:

Dally Castle

A scheduled ancient monument, built around 700 years ago by David Lindsay, a scottish nobleman. Originally a "hall-house" a defensable medieaval building. During these turbulent times scottish and english kings often battled for the borderlands and northumberland was regularly under siege. Dally Castle was converted into a tower house, a more castle-like structure in the 14th centuary. It fell into disrepair during peaceful times and in the 18th centuary it was describred as a "roofless shell".
