OPIS POTI:
ENG:
The Kriva jelka (Crooked Fir) is an area of the forest in Udin boršt, which was arranged in 1998 by the local cultural and tourism association of the same name (KTD Pod krivo jelko Duplje). At that time, a fir tree was planted to replace the former Kriva jelka, around which rokovnjači (mostly military deserters) used to gather. These vagabonds lived and roamed in Udin boršt between 1825 and 1853.
The rokovnjači are also mentioned by writer and publicist Peter Bohinjec, who was the parish priest in Duplje for the last six years of his life, in his historical novella "Pod krivo jelko" (Under the Crooked Fir). The title of the story about the rokovnjači thus became both the name of the local cultural and tourism association and a popular hiking spot in the heart of Udin boršt.
Today, the area is equipped with benches, children's playgrounds, and an open shelter that provides refuge for hikers coming from near and far.
Trail Description
The trail is short and easy, approximately 2 km long. It follows a beautiful forest path, which can become very muddy after rain or snowmelt, so we recommend wearing sturdy footwear. The local children have created a fairy-tale village here, so we kindly ask you not to take anything you find along the way—please leave everything as it is. However, you are welcome to add something to the village if you wish.
Since GPS coordinates in the forest may slightly deviate, we recommend using the spoiler photos for guidance.
