The Jiou Chou Gong Temple is located in the center of Jiou Chou Street in the Jiou Chou District of New Taipei City, Taiwan. It is a temple dedicated to Zheng Chenggong (Koxinga), and the Jiou Chou tree planted there is considered a memorial to him. There is also a local legend that ties the tree to the "Guo Xing Jiao," a religious ceremony held every three years in LuZhou.

In local customs, if parents find that their child is unwell, they will tie a red cloth with the child's name on the Jiou Chou tree. This is seen as a way to seek divine protection and help the child recover. This practice is related to the local belief in "Jiou Chou Gong" (the tree god), and the tree holds significant religious and cultural importance in the hearts of the residents. Because of this, the faithful built a temple to worship the tree god, and the Jiou Chou Gong Temple was completed in 1970.

At its peak, the tree's trunk was large enough for two people to embrace it. However, due to long-term exposure to storms, rain, and insect damage, the tree has gradually aged and has even toppled three times. Despite this, the tree still holds a deep emotional connection for the local residents.

In 1988, with the planning of Jiou Chou Street in LuZhou Township, there was an intention to move the tree to the side to maintain a straight road. This proposal was met with strong opposition from the public. The LuZhou Township Office and the Taipei County Government actively communicated with the Taiwan Provincial Government, and eventually, the Urban Development Bureau agreed to preserve the tree in the middle of the road. Following this, Taipei County Councilor Chen Xinyi arranged for funding to establish a small park at the site, preserving both the Jiou Chou tree and the temple. Stone tables and chairs were set up for public use, making it an integral part of the local community.

This small park is not only a religious center but also has become a distinctive feature of the LuZhou District, symbolizing the local residents' respect and protection of the Jiou Chou tree. The New Taipei City Agricultural Bureau has listed this tree in Jiou Chou Village as a precious tree.
