Rhostryfan was the only town on the Bryngwyn Branch of the North Wales Narrow Gauge Railway. The station building has since been demolished, but the name sign still stands prominently beside the modern Slate Trail footpath. Passenger services ended in 1914, and the station closed completely in 1938 along with the rest of the line.
Although redevelopment is unlikely anytime soon, the trackbed is owned by the Ffestiniog Railway Co. and may one day be restored.
