Many of us know who Gumby is, but you might be surprised to find out that there are two types of Gumbys. Most people are familiar with the tall green Gumby of the Gumby and Pokey clan, but die hard fans of Monty Python's Flying Circus also know Mr. Gumby (see Gumbys below). You should be familiar with at least one of these Gumbys to complete this fun geocache!
This is Austin’s second webcam cache and one of the few webcams where you can actually walk right up to the camera. To complete this cache you will need to cooperate with a friend to have him/her capture an image of you standing at the above coordinates. Your friend needs to be sitting at a computer with an internet connection (preferably a broadband connection, but not required). You will also need a cell phone to call your cooperative friend when you get to the coordinates. I strongly suggest you attempt this webcam during the daylight hours as the camera has a difficult time focusing at night in the low light conditions. This is an urban cache and parking can be difficult when UT is in session and on Saturdays when UT has a home football game.
When you find the camera, call your friend (on your cell phone of course) and have him/her navigate to http://www.robuck.net/gumby and save an image of you posing like one of the Gumbys! Enjoy!
To successfully log this geocache you must post a picture of you doing one of the Gumby poses. Logs without the pose will be removed.
Update: The webcam has been programmed to refresh its image once every 60 seconds during the day, and once every 15 minutes at night. To see the updated image, you will need to manually "refresh" your web browser screen (the F5 key if you're using Internet Explorer).
Be sure to check the camera page before you attempt this geocache to make sure everything is working properly.
